Tough times today. That is an understatement. We are blessed with more advice than we could ever follow. Go online and keyword retirement, finances, spending today, inflation, rising prices and on and on.
But what can we do about this today…I have a few ideas to save some dollars. We have been doing these things for the past few months and are saving between three hundred and five hundred dollars per month.
1. Grocery shop twice a week, and buy only what you will need for three or four days. This eliminates buying stuff when you are kind of low.
2. Wash only large loads of clothes
3. Run the dishwasher only three times a week
4. Cut back on dinners out…we go to the local bar/restaurant and sit at the bar ordering a few drinks and bar snacks during happy hour….We used to eat out twice a week.
5. Turn the water off when not using
6. Ration the paper towels and use rags and sponges
7. Make my budget soup for boomers (It lasts for three dinners and one lunch)
8. Do your errands in groups
9. Pay attention to sales on food (only if it is something you normally buy)
10.Go to the library or exchange books with friends.
These are just a few ideas, and you will not feel like you are deprived.
